Steampunk - work in progress

Here is where I am at so far. I was hoping to get further today but work was crazy and as you can see by the picture at the bottom of this post I had troubles with my homework ;)

Start of inside for steampunk domino mini book. Oh... and that green punch at the top is my new favorite punch. I am using it to try to make some steampunky flowers.

Here is what I have so far... What do you think? The two pinkish, orangy ones towards the top are using my glossy accents, alcohol ink, glimmer mist discovery with the exception that I switched out the glossy accents for crackle accents. Next one down with the turquoise gem on top was an accident (it got stuck in with my glossy accent attempt...). Next one on the left with the philips type screw is my glossy accents, alcohol ink, glimmer mist discover with the exception that I switched glossy accents for Rock Candy Stickles. And last but not least, the one at the bottom which isn't really steampunky at all is card stock that I added metal tape to and then embossed. After embossing I added some alcohol ink and glossy accents. Let me know if you think you'd like a tut for any of this. It is all just experimentation :) so fun...

Here is the culprit for a less than optimally productive evening... I was trying to do homework and my little monkey decided it was time for attention instead...

I have a new discovery :)

It includes glossy accents, alcohol ink, and glimmer mist! If you like charms with a vintagy feel this may be for you. More recent layouts...

I went a little crazy with my mists on this one. I think I used a lot of smooch spritz here. This page is all me... pink, black, white and bling... This is my color palette :) I love to sparkle too...

Here is a closeup of the chandelier... I honestly can't remember what all I did to it, but it was a lot. It is misted with smooch spritz... it is painted with smooch paint... and it is stickled (I know this much for sure... lol!).

More Webster Pages :) This is my little Pepper dressed up as Tinker Bell for Halloween. This layout is all girly. Everything is adhered to black cardstock. Behind the Webster Pages I glued some lace to make it even more girly.

This is probably one of my simpler layouts. I love my Webster Pages :D  This is from a cruise my dh and I took a couple years ago. St Maarten was absolutely gorgeous!

Close up of my altered Dusty Attic (Have I mentioned how much I love Dusty Attic?) There is just so much fun to be had with a piece of chipboard! For this one I used the Tim Holtz crackle paints in Broken China. I then added some distress ink to deepen the color a little and while that was still I little wet I brushed in some perfect pearls. Then I added the little pieces of bling.

This is my brother's favorite

He is a graphic designer (in school to become one actually) so his opinion means a great deal to me. This was from the Scraps of Darkness Steampunk kit (one of my personal fav's).

I just love this paper! I did a lot of cutting and framing on this one. I thought the paper was perfect for my nieces with their mardi gras masks.



Close up of flower arrangement in lower right corner... See the brown and rafia looking swirly things? Those are wire covered sticks I found in the flower department at JoAnns. I wrapped them around a skinny stick and then cut them and added them into the arrangement.

The flowers were all misted and stickled...

Close up of pearls. So to add some extra interest to my pearl swirls. I used one of those Tim Holtz alcohol ink pens with Alcohol Ink (pretty sure I used Espresso). Then I just colored over the pearls I wanted to change and voila.

Ever wonder what to do with those flat simple Primas to make them a little more fun and exciting? These are misted, distress inked, distress stickled, and regular stickled...

More layouts from the past...

Just a picture of my niece with all three of our dogs. She spent the night with us and my babies (the 3 dogs) just kind of clung to her. It was pretty cute.

I did this one for a round robin. The pic is from my when my dh and I celebrated our anniversary in San Francisco. This is the view from Hwy 1. The drive was scary as all get out (mainly because we rented a camero and dh had a blast driving it around those sharp curves)... I had less fun gripping the door handle with all my might.

Here is a close up of the chippie in the upper right. To add some visual interest to the paper behind everything. I had just the paper cut into a circle. I then glued the lace around it and added a string of pearls to the top.  Now for the chippie. This was just a white chippie that I alcohol inked and then added distress stickles. I then wove tthe pearl/gem spray in behind it.

A couple more of my older layouts.

This is probably one of my favorite layouts to date. It is from when we went and saw Blue October live at Rock Fest. The pics were all modified using image edditing software. The main background paper is alcohol ink splattered, misted, and distressed all over. I also used some of those Tim Holtz fragment things to create the skulls that are in various areas. Lots of fun!

This is my nephew and my dog pepper with me. I tried adding lace on the edges in various places on this layout. I also had some more fun with Dusty Attic and Pink Paislee Artisan things.

Cenotes... ahhh good times

This was from our vacation to Mexicon last year or the year before. We went snorkeling in the cenotes which are basically underground caves. Pretty cool...


Closeup... the little life saver thing is one of those plastic glimmer chip/glass (?) things from Tattered Angels. I painted the background and after the paint dried applied a heat gun to the chip for just a second or so to make it malleable and then I bent it to my liking and it stayed that way.
